President's Message - June 2001
Tom Halleran
President
Hi Neighbors,
I am in receipt of a letter from two residents with the thought that the board should devise a method of saying “thank you” to the Security, Housekeeping and Maintenance Staff during the holiday season each year. I am in full support of this approach and have had an opportunity to see this type of program be very productive with other service providers in the past. Your Board of Trustees discussed this in executive session this past month and has decided to recommend a procedure be initiated by our General Manager, Joe Toronto, to see that this is done during November of each year. In the monthly billing each November a note explaining this program will be included as a reminder of the reason for the program and invite (this will be entirely voluntary) each of us to participate to the level we each see fit.
Let me repeat that each gift will be at the owner’s discretion and is intended to be kept private. I have every expectation that the distribution will be fair and equitable for each employee involved in this program. This is a great way to say “Thank You” for all of the service we received from each of the people who call the American Towers their place of business.
Another item that has come to my attention and therefore the attention of the Board of Trustees that is causing some concern on the part of some residents and must be addressed by each of us individually. We are all aware that when we decided to purchase a home at this location we agreed to abide by the covenants and bylaws of the homeowners association. Several of us have lost sight of the intent for certain rules contained in the documents that were provided to each of us for review prior to signing the contracts of purchase. For some reason there has become a relaxed attitude toward some of those rules each of us agreed to follow. PLEASE revisit these rules and see that you are in compliance with those referring to the “common area” restrictions and guidelines. I will be asking our building committee to inspect each floor of the complex and document any violation of the agreement. You may be contacted for the purpose of personal discussion, which I trust will be sufficient to reach agreement with the need for each of us to remain consistent with these rules.
In closing, and on a more positive note, I want to share with all of you the decision made at the May meeting of the Trustees to repair and improve the roof environment on each of our buildings. This project will result in the improvement of our “back yard” and I know all of you, even those who do not regularly use the roof for your enjoyment and entertainment will be pleased to participate from now on.
Have a great month of June. We’ll visit again in August.
Best Wishes,
Tom Halleran,
